Len Cotton joined his father in 1972. Having qualified as a chartered engineer, W J Cotton diversified into civil engineering and larger public building works. By 1987, the firm had built itself a reputation which necessitated the introduction of additional management in order to further the range and size of contracts and Richard Evans joined the company. W J Cotton continued to expand and in 1999 it was decided to form a limited company. | It is now a major employer in West Wales, employing local people, utilising local resources and sub-contractors and reinvesting in the local economy. Turnover is now £5 to £6 million and 60-plus people are directly employed. Cotton continues to provide the client with a ‘hands on’ management approach, ensuring the highest quality finish. The cornerstones of its reputation are wealth of experience, high standards of workmanship, reliability and approachability.
